Can one be a Christian and a lawyer at the same time?

Christianity and the law, for many sounds a contradiction in terms and it is not unfamiliar to hear protestations like, can one be a Christian and a lawyer at the same time? Perhaps this is an indictment on Christian lawyers in particular and the profession of law generally for not mirroring moral standards of conduct in their service and life style expected of them. Christianity, what has it to do with the law, let alone what has law got to do with it. In recent days or weeks the interface between the state and the faith community has come into the spotlight following the arrest and prosecution of openly gay partners in Blantyre. Some men of collar have taken a stick for expressing their faith’s position on the matter while others have laught an onslaught on our laws describing some of them as prehistoric and intolerant. Curiously, both the faith community and the state seem to share a common position on the matter. The question is whether this is by accident or coincident?
